The PRS backs SAFEagent Awareness Week

The Property Redress Scheme (PRS) supports this week’s SAFEagent Awareness Week, which highlights the importance for letting agents of being a member of a client money protection scheme. SAFE (Safe Agent Fully Endorsed) is a symbol for all clients of letting agents and property management professionals that their agent has protected their client money in a client money protection scheme.

The Property Redress Scheme is a keen supporter of initiatives to protect consumers. Sean Hooker, Head of Redress of the PRS, says: “We always urge letting agents to become a member of a client money protection scheme such as Client Money Protect. It is the law that agents need to tell their clients whether or not they are a member of a scheme. It you aren’t a member, the message is clear. By joining a scheme like Client Money Protect on the other hand, you are giving your clients the peace of mind that their client money is protected. “

The SAFEagent Awareness Week started on Monday 6 June and finishes on Friday 10 June. The week is dedicated to making tenants and landlords aware of the risks they could be running in entrusting their client money to letting agents who haven’t joined a client money protection scheme.
